SURVEY OF SERVICE SECTOR SUGGEST SLOWDOWN IS TEMPORARY
The service sector purchasing managers’ index compiled by Markit has reaffirmed economists’ views that a slowdown in growth at the start of the year will prove to be temporary.
The index scored 59.5 in April, according to figures released. Scores above 50 signify growth.
It shows growth in the service sector, which makes up nearly 80 per cent of the economy, was faster than in March when the survey scored 58.9.
