Vodafone has marked its return to the broadband market with the launch of Vodafone Connect – a move that will create 400 new jobs.

The mobile giant will use the fibre optic network from its £1billion acquisition of Cable & Wireless Worldwide in 2012 to offer broadband, and eventually television, to the home.

Vodafone Connect will initially be offered to existing customers in Manchester, Berkshire and parts of Hampshire and Surrey with a national rollout due later in the summer.

“Vodafone Connect is our brand new broadband offering that boasts lightning-fast speeds of up to 76Mbps, along with amazing discounts for our existing customers and a host of unique extras,” the network said in a blog post. “It’s time to finally get excited about your broadband provider.”
